SURNAMES: BUFORD, HOMEY
Can anyone identify the parents/sibs of Daniel Horney who is found in the 1860 census residing in Missouri, Reynolds County, Logan TWP, Barnesville PO? It states that he was born in OH and was 35 years old. There was a Daniel Horney in the BLM database as having gotten land from the Jackson Land Office [Reynolds County] in 1857 and again in 1859. I am assuming this is the same man. Residing with him in 1860 are: Mary [Ann Buford] age 30, b MO John age 14, b MO Elizabeth age 12, b MO Lucy age 9, b MO Sarah age 3/12, b MO By 1870 I can find neither John nor Daniel Horney. I am working on Civil War records to see if they perished. Mary Horney age 40, is found living in Reynolds County, Logan TWP, Barnesville TWP with Sarah age 10, and Mary's father John Buford age 73 [Elizabeth Buford, her mother had died]. On one side of Mary is her daughter Elizabeth Chitwood age 22 and husband Henderson and children; on the other side is her daughter Lucy Melton, age 19 and husband Richard. I am trying to prove/disprove that Daniel Horney was my gggrandfather. It was reported [erroneously, I think] that Mary Ann Buford was first married to Andrew Robinson [Marcus Bainbridge Buford, "A genealogy of the Buford Family in America", 2d ed, 1924] and that the first 3 children were his [John, Amanda [? this is also an error, I think] and Elizabeth]] and Sarah Horney was the child of Mary and Daniel Horney. The book further states that "Amanda" married a Mr. Melton and that Sarah married a Mark Barnham. [Sarah's marriage to Leonard Martin Burnham has been verified by the clerk of courts in Reynolds County--it occurred in Feb, 1880]. The marriage error [between Mary Ann and Andrew Robinson] is reported from this book at several websites and at least one text about Reynolds County; I feel it is from the Buford book because Mary Ann's death is always reported as 1915. In reality she died in 1912; I am assuming that that error points to the source of the information. Does anyone have a Daniel Horney in OH born in OH about 1825? If, indeed, he is the father of all the children he would have been gone from OH before 1845 as the eldest child John would have been born in 1846. All children are listed as having been born in MO. I have yet to find them in the 1850 census. Any help is appreciated. judith arnn-knight

SURNAMES: ROBINSON
Can anyone identify the parents/sibs of:
1850 Census MO, Reynolds Count District 76

146/146 George W. Robinson 27 farmer b MO
Mary 20 b Mo
John 4 b MO
Elizabeth 2 b MO
John 22 farmer b MO
Jane 16 b MO
Bell in his "history of Reynolds County" lists a George W. Robinson as being a postmaster in Centerville in 1846. He identifies a George W. Robinson as being the child of Sarah Bryan Robinson and John L. Robinson. Sarah is said to have died before 1850 and John died before 1840.

I am trying to find the 1st husband of my gggrandmother Mary Ann Buford. Bell identifies her as the wife of Andrew Robinson (brother of George W.). I honestly think he is mixing up several families of Robinsons but am having little luck in proving it as he is quoting a book by Marcus Bainbridge Buford (2d ed) from which he got the information.

NAME: Jim Myers
SURNAME: HENRY
I was by the Centerville Courthouse today and noticed the inscription at the front of the building describing the founding of Reynolds county. The name Andrew Henry caught my attention.
My purpose for being there was to see if I could find Lower Bee Fork Cemetary where my grandmothers parents are buried. (I did find it). they are the descendants of the James Daniel Henry that settled on Bee Fork in the 1860's.
Is there any information available about Andrew Henry?
We are still trying to figure out what influenced James D. to leave a well to do farm in Ohio and trek with six kids and a pregnant wife to Reynolds Co.
Thanks,
Jim Meyers

NAME: Judy Mosss
SURNAMES: COZINE, JAMISON, SENCIBAUGH, VINSON
My name is Judy Sencibaugh Moss & I am the daughter of Claude Eugene Sencibaught (01/08/1916 - 11/25/1964) and Mary Belle Cozine Sencibaught Givens (05/13/1923 - 001/08/1992). They were married on 08/12/1939 by "Chink" McHenry in Lesterville. Mr. Sencibaugh was the son of John Sencibaugh, Sr. and Samantha MObeatie Jamison Sencibaugh residing in and near Lesterville. Mobeatie was the daughter of J. J. Jamison & Mary A. Cozine who lived on Harrison Valley. So I would be interested in talking with anyone knowing anything about the COZINE, SENCIBAUGH, JAMISON, OR VINSON Family. I do have some history on the Jamison family and would be glad to share with anyone interested. The information is in the form of a family book compiled by Jay Jamison which dates back 8 generations. My information on the Sencibaught link is limited to my Aunt Jean Sencibaugh (Mrs. John) who lives in Lesterville. Knowledge of the Cozine family is very limited. I have virtually no information on the Vinson family.
