REYNOLDS COUNTY WRITING QUERIES AND SENDING ME YOUR QUERIES

Writing Queries

MAKE YOUR QUERY WORK HARDER FOR YOU

Make your query work harder for you - remember the basics: WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE AND WHY.

WHO: State the names of people as completely as you can. WHAT: Try to limit your query to one or two specific events or bits of information. WHEN: Dates are important, if you don't know the exact date, show a period of time, e.g., about 1850, etc WHERE: Show location - County/State etc. WHY: Why are you searching for this(these) individual(s)? Describe your connection to him/her.

YOU WANT TO GET A RESPONSE TO YOUR QUERY!!

Keep your queries brief. Sometimes it is best to split up your queries and submit more than one.

Always show SURNAMES in capital letters - it is so much easier to scan queries if the SURNAME jumps out at you.

EXAMPLES (using Judy Atkinson's surnames):

RANDOLPH, Burton b in Adair Co KY 1818; mrd Elizabeth WARREN in 1849 (dau of Stephen WARREN and Sena HOLOMAN). Believe Burton RANDOLPH to be the son of Absolem RANDOLPH and his first wife Elizabeth Harrison BLAIR. Absolem moved to Reynolds Co MO in 1829 with 8 children and his 2nd wife Matilda GORDON (mrd 1826). There was another young man - Hiram RANDOLPH who lived near Burton whom I believe to be his older brother. Hiram and his wife sold land in 1867 and disappeared off the face of the earth. Would like to locate Hiram RANDOLPH and also get proof that Burton RANDOLPH is the son of Absolem RANDOLPH. Have a lot of information on Burton RANDOLPH and his descendents that I am willing to share with anyone researching this RANDOLPH line.

BOUNDS, Stephen, b 1829 in Wayne Co MO to John BOUNDS b 1790 in NC and Elizabeth STOUT b 1806 in KY. Stephen mrd Nancy ROWDEN (they are my gg grandparents). The STOUT family lived in Reynolds Co for a period of time. Elizabeth is reported to be a daugther of Jacob STOUT who is a descendent of Peter "The Quaker" STOUT who is descended from Richard and Penelope STOUT. I do not have definite proof of this. She is listed in the book, "Stout and Allied Families" as a dau of Jacob STOUT and Sarah LONG. She is also interested in the parentage of John BOUNDS. Judy does have information on Stephen BOUNDS and Nancy ROWDEN which she is willing to share with anyone researching this family.

SURNAME EXAMPLES: BOUNDS 1805 to present NC>MO

WARREN 1835 to present NC>TN>KY>IL>MO

RANDOLPH 1829 to present KY>MO

ROWDEN 1835 to present TN>MO
